Are they having layoffs or is this just speculation? I don't think they are even eligable for unemployment benifits. I don't remember hearing of anyone being presented with a benifits package on arrival at Bethel so I would think they are SOL. I think anyone who has spent their life there would have very little to show for it and would wind up relying on a government run by Satan for a handout. I have heard witness make fun of churches where the minister can retire and has a retirement plan. A 60 year old bethelite might not find it such a funny idea.

Severance Pay ($10,000 for each year)for Those Laid Off From Bethel?
by frankiespeakin ini think to be fair the gb should use the money they have collected from selling off thier property in brooklyn and offer a serverance package for those asked to leave after many years of service, $10,000 for every year of service would be good.
i've cut and pasted this from a legal site:.

When a jw has a major fall out within the congregation...
by Check_Your_Premises in.... how often does it lead to an eventual exit?.
i know some real nice, joined as adult jw's who have had a major fallout with their cong.. they are model, idealistic jw's.
but politics between these folks and an elder led to him being summarily stripped of his "privileges".

Any way of giving them a push in the right direction? It would be nice if someone could get them to check out info on the internet or read a book about the Watchtower. They may do this on their own or as lovelylil mentioned they may go looking for another hall where they think they will fit in better.

"School was weird for me," she said. "Whenever it was someone's birthday, I had to sit in a room by myself while everyone else had cake. I couldn't draw Christmas trees or turkeys for Thanksgiving."
Bill Kissell, a Jehovah's Witness spokesman in Missouri, said Witness parents are simply concerned with whom their kids associate.
"Certain parts of school activities are not appropriate," he said. "Young people could be accidentally involved in something immoral or unacceptable."So I guess old Bill here has heard of case where sharing a piece of birthday cake at school has led to the kiddies having a full blown orgy. And drawing a turkey at Thanksgiving, we all know what that can lead to.
His explaination would only seem sane to another JW.

House of Spiritual Stuff
by Moomin inlast month, my husband and i went on holiday with my family and stayed in a big house in the norfolk countryside.
the couple who owned the house couldn't afford the upkeep but didn't want to sell.
they made one of the barns habitable for themselves and then rented the house out for holidays.

Makes me wonder what retal market they are going for. I don't think a lot of people would want to stay it a place like that. I would wonder what they were up to.

I don't think I would. I mean I haven't in over 20 years so that should be a good sign. Even for a wedding or a funeral who would want to go somewhere where you know they are goingt to treat you like crap. The thought of going back for any reason makes me want to hurl.

Yesterday I awoke and knew that things had changed.
by ozziepost in.
yep, i walked outside and i could feel it gently blowing across my cheeks.. i looked up and saw a flag.. yep, sure enough, i could see it!.
the wind....oh the glorious northerly wind.. after weeks of winter winds, it seemed for me that was just a memory for now the warm northerly was there - just ever so gently at first but promising better things to come.. yes folks, summer's coming downunder!.

I wish I felt like you do Ozzie. It has been hot and humid here most of the summer. Yesterday I got my air conditioning bill and now I really am tired of summer. The only heat I want to feel now is some nice hot dry Santa Ana winds in the fall.

The Judicial Committee Has Been Formed
by LennyinBluemont inwell, the hard, rusty gears of theocratic justice has begun to turn, and the teeth have caught me.
for those of you who read my earlier threads, in february of 2005, a "sister" i had known for almost 30 years contacted me and wanted to know what i had learned in the years since i had faded.
after granting me full assurance of confidentiality, in writing, i disclosed to her the un scandal.

I would go with something similar to DocBob's letter. When I left and was to have a meeting with them I sent off a letter not half as good or extensive as Doc's and they never bothered me again. They're not used to having someone take control by questioning their methods. They're much better at bulling sheep.

Why all the hostility toward WTS?
by hambeak in.
i'm very new to this and please understand, but at one time or another most everyone here was a loyal and faithful witness.. if you disapproove of it or don't fit in as i don't.
why keep pounding at them it is like an obsession.. i would really like to know.

When I left I also never looked back but that hasn't prevented the Watchtower from constantly stepping in front of me. By this I mean that unless you are single with no family attachments to the Watchtower there stupidity manages to keep poping up throughout your life disrupting it in one way or another.

WHY I'M BECOMING A MUSLIM!
by Dansk ini came across an interesting site the other day and below is an extract from one of its web pages (does anyone know if the following is actually true as i've never read the quran?).
no wonder so many muslim men wear baggy trousers, it's to hide the erection they get when they look heavenwards!.
what i don't understand is what's in it for the women?

What I don't understand is what's in it for the women?
I've wondered this myself. At times when I have gone to the beach here I've seen the husband in his trunks enjoying the beach checking out the babes while his wife sits next to him covered from head to toe.

I think about 6 months before I put the effort into getting a password. I'm better at lurking than posting so I still spend more time on the lurking side when I have the time to look in.
